AEQU Culture

We spend a lot of time contemplating the culture we are creating at AEQU. It’s critical for us to think about this now, while we’re small, so that we can bring the right people into the business. The reason it’s so critical is because we are a business of people. Our team, our collective vibe and brain power is our product.

That said, maybe the best way to share our culture is to share what we are and what we aren’t. Here is a list of things you should know about AEQU. They aren’t in a specific order.

  • We really value being honest.
  • We seek out new things. Our team likes change.
  • Communication is our biggest asset. Our business revolves around communication so this is a big one.
  • We try to make everything easier. We like efficiency.
  • We take pleasure in the simple things. Great music and great meals.
  • Technology is simply a means to success. We think great tech should work for us, not the other way around.
  • We genuinely like meeting people and hearing good stories.
  • We focus on feedback.
  • Degrees don’t really matter to us.

A Great New Feature in Lion’s iCal

When trying to plan activities (yes that was a Step Brothers reference) it’s nice to be able to look at a snapshot view of your calendar and see when your busy and when your schedule is full.  In Lion, just click the ‘Year’ tab at the top center of the window and you’ll get a view of the full year.

It looks like this:

The busier days are dark red and your more open days are light yellow.  It makes planning long trips and weekly events much easier.

Lion: New Scrolling

Lion just came out and many of you may have noticed your page scrolling reversed!  As Apple tries to further integrate iOS with their Mac operating system, they’ve reversed the scrolling to match the scrolling on iDevices.
It might be a good idea not to fight it, as these changes tend to stick with Apple.
But…if you would like to change it back to the old method we’ve got you covered!

Why our clients love us.

Spoiler Alert!!!! I’m about to tell you our secret sauce. I’m going to reveal the real reason why our clients love us and why we are adding new clients every week. Psych! (1990′s reference) There is no special sauce. We’re normal, just like you. We are trying to build a business organization based on one principle alone. Help people. Do good deeds.

Here are the three main things we focus on.

  1. Don’t be a turd. We genuinely care about our clients. We consider it a privilege to get to meet new people every week and we think it’s fun to help people succeed. LIfe is short, so we consider bringing happiness to the job a key ingredient.
  2. Know your stuff. We’re legit experts on the Mac platform. Wayne and Cameron know more about Apple products than anybody else in the state. They’re also very knowledgeable about many other technology related topics such as video equipment, home audio and web design.
  3. Sometimes we say no. This is critical. We will tell you when we can’t help you. If you run into a problem that we can’t fix, we will quickly tell you that we can’t meet your need then we will do everything we can to send you in the right direction. Gaining your trust is all we care about.

In our business trust is everything.  Trust is earned when you do what’s right for the client no matter what.  That’s what we do.
